- What they may submit: simple drawings or photos, equipment spec sheets, basic load calculations, and scope description.
- Your role: Your installer will let you know if the AHJ needs anything from you (for example, owner authorization or HOA approval).
Common permit review styles
- Over-the-counter / online quick permits: Simple scopes may be approved same day to a few business days after application.
- Standard plan review: Deeper reviews (e.g., panel/service upgrades, trenching) often take ~1–3 weeks, longer in busy seasons.
- Paperwork-only (desk) review: Some AHJs complete the process via submitted documents/photos.
Tip: If your quote lists a Permit or Permit Application Fee line, permitting is included. If you don’t see it, ask your installer how your AHJ handles permits for your address.
